PRIVACY POLICY

1. Introduction

At GCGF, we take our responsibilities under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 of Singapore, any regulations enacted thereunder, and any guidelines that may be issued from time to time by the Personal Data Protection Commission (collectively, the “PDPA”) seriously. We recognise the importance of your personal data and are committed to properly managing, protecting, and processing it.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and process your personal data. It is designed to help you make an informed decision before providing us with any of your personal data.

2. Personal Data

"Personal Data" means data, whether true or not, about an individual who can be identified from that data or from that data and other information to which the organisation has or is likely to have access.(1) Personal Data may include name, salutation, contact numbers, email, addresses, organisation/employer and work title or designation.

3. Collection, Use, Disclosure, and Processing of Personal Data

We may collect, use, disclose, and process your Personal Data for various purposes, including, amongst others:

  • conducting and facilitating market research and research projects;

  • disseminating research findings and publications;

  • complying with legal and regulatory requirements;

  • responding to your inquiries and requests;

  • sending you information about our research activities, events, or publications;

  • maintaining our databases of research participants and collaborators;

  • customising our website according to your interests;

  • sending you information about changes to our policies, if any;

  • organising or conducting events, conferences, seminars, workshops, educational activities or promotional activities;

  • catering, insurance, statistics gathering, data analytics, marketing and advertising, collateral, corporate gifts, and/or

We will notify you of the purposes for which your Personal Data may be used and obtain your consent unless an exception under the law permits us to collect and process your Personal Data without your consent.

4. Disclosure to Third Parties

We respect the confidentiality of your Personal Data and will not disclose, sell, distribute, or lease your personal information to third parties, except with your consent or where required by law. In this regard, we may disclose your Personal Data to third parties without first obtaining your consent in certain situations, including:

  • where the Personal Data is publicly available;

  • where the disclosure is necessary for any investigation or proceedings, or

  • where the disclosure is to a proper authority, public agency and such disclosure is necessary in the public interest.

Where we disclose your Personal Data to third parties, we will employ our best efforts to require such third parties to protect your Personal Data.

We may use information obtained from your Personal Data to send you promotional content from third parties that we believe may interest you, provided you have indicated your preference to receive such communications.

5. Security and Retention

We have implemented reasonable security measures to protect your Personal Data from unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, or disposal. These measures include physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

We will retain your Personal Data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law.

We will also put in place measures such that your Personal Data in our possession or under our control is destroyed and/or anonymised as soon as it is reasonable to assume that (i) the purpose for which that Personal Data was collected is no longer being served by the retention of such Personal Data; and (ii) retention is no longer necessary for any other legal or business purposes.

However, it is your responsibility to update us of any changes in your Personal Data that you had provided us with and we will not be responsible for relying on inaccurate or incomplete Personal Data arising from you not updating us of any changes in your Personal Data.

8. Access and Correction

You may request access to, a copy of, or, if you believe that any Personal Data we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, correction of your Personal Data in our possession or control by submitting a written request to the email below as soon as possible. We may charge a reasonable fee for processing such requests.

Please indicate in the subject header what the nature of your query is (eg. If it is relating to an access request, you may insert the words “PDPA Access Request” in the subject header).

9. Withdrawal of Consent

You may withdraw your consent for the collection, use, and/or disclosure of your Personal Data in our possession or control by submitting a written request to the email below. We will process your request within a reasonable time from such a request for withdrawal of consent being made, and will thereafter refrain from collecting, using and/or disclosing your Personal Data in the manner stated in your request.

Alternatively, you may choose to restrict or limit the collection or use of your Personal Data in the following ways:

  • when prompted to fill out a form on the website, you can check the box to indicate that you do not wish for your information to be used for direct marketing purposes, or

  • if you have previously consented to us using your personal information for direct marketing, you may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at the email below.

10. Transfer of Personal Data

Where your Personal Data is to be transferred out of Singapore, we will comply with the PDPA in doing so. In this regard, this includes us obtaining your consent unless an exception under the PDPA or law applies, and taking appropriate steps to ascertain that the foreign recipient organisation of the personal data is bound by legally enforceable obligations to provide to the transferred Personal Data a standard of protection that is at least comparable to the protection under the PDPA. This may include us entering into an appropriate contract with the foreign recipient organisation dealing with the personal data transfer or permitting the Personal Data transfer without such a contract if the PDPA or law permits us to.

11. Updates to this Privacy Policy

As part of our efforts to ensure that we properly manage, protect and process your Personal Data, we will be reviewing our policies, procedures and processes from time to time and may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons.

We reserve the right to amend the terms of this Privacy Policy at our absolute discretion. Any amended Privacy Policy will be posted on our website and can be viewed at https://green-fuels.org/.
