June 2025 | Washington D.C. and Illinois, USA
The Global Centre for Green Fuels (GCGF) led a week-long study tour to the United States, supporting the Vietnamese delegation in exploring international best practices for ethanol fuel adoption. The delegation comprised representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), PetroVietnam, PVOIL, and the Vietnam Biofuel Association (VBFA).
Strengthening Technical Understanding
The workshop in Washington D.C. hosted by the U.S. Grains Council (USGC) brought together technical experts and industry representatives from Growth Energy and the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) presenting key sessions focused on:
U.S. ethanol policy and regulatory framework
Blending infrastructure and fuel distribution logistics
Engine and vehicle compatibility with ethanol blends
Consumer behaviour, retail marketing, and public engagement strategies
Discussions highlighted the integrated approach taken by the U.S. to promote use of the sustainable fuel, supported by both public policy and private sector coordination.
Connecting Policy to Practice
To complement the policy and technical discussions, the delegation visited one of the largest dry-mill ethanol production facilities in the Midwest. This provided a close up look at large scale bioethanol operations, including production processes, emissions monitoring, and sustainability measures in practice.
A Shared Commitment to Energy Transition
The study tour is part of GCGF’s broader agenda to support Vietnam’s transition to cleaner transport fuels. By facilitating technical exchange and on the ground learning, this visit has helped deepen our stakeholders understanding of what’s needed to drive long-term market acceptance and infrastructure readiness.
GCGF thanks all our U.S. partners for their collaboration and technical inputs throughout the programme.
