Vietnam | March 2026

The Global Centre for Green Fuels (GCGF) hosted a series of stakeholder workshops across Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, supporting dialogue around Vietnam’s upcoming transition toward E10 gasoline under the national biofuel roadmap.

The workshop series was opened by Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, reflecting the Vietnamese government’s commitment to advancing the country’s biofuels roadmap and preparations for the introduction of E10 gasoline.

Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has outlined plans for the nationwide introduction of E10 RON95 gasoline, with the domestic gasoline market expected to transition toward E5 RON92 and E10 RON95 blends as part of efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, lower transport emissions and support the development of domestic agricultural value chains.

The workshops brought together policymakers, industry stakeholders and technical experts to discuss practical considerations surrounding the transition, including policy implementation, fuel supply readiness, infrastructure preparation and consumer awareness.

Supporting Vietnam’s Transition Toward Higher Ethanol Blends

Vietnam’s biofuel roadmap reflects broader efforts to strengthen energy security while reducing transport emissions.

According to officials, wider adoption of ethanol-blended fuels could help reduce fossil fuel consumption and cut greenhouse gas emissions, while also creating new market opportunities for agricultural feedstocks used in ethanol production.

The workshops therefore provided a platform for stakeholders to exchange international experience on ethanol deployment and discuss how Vietnam’s fuel supply chain and retail market can prepare for the upcoming transition.

Strengthening Regional Collaboration on Low-Carbon Fuels

Vietnam’s move toward E10 gasoline represents a significant milestone in Southeast Asia’s evolving transport energy landscape.

The workshop series highlights the importance of international collaboration, technical exchange and industry engagement in supporting the implementation of biofuel policies and scaling practical low-carbon fuel solutions.
