March 2025 | Hanoi

On 26 March 2025, the Global Centre for Green Fuels (GCGF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Vietnam Bio-Fuels Association (VBFA), establishing a new partnership to support the integration of ethanol-based fuels into Vietnam’s national energy mix.

The MOU was exchanged in Hanoi during a high-level event witnessed by Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong—underscoring the increasing attention on clean fuel solutions in the region.

The collaboration sets out a framework for supporting ethanol market development through technical cooperation, policy dialogue, and public engagement. Areas of joint work include:

  • Knowledge sharing on ethanol blending, storage, standards, and regulatory approaches

  • Supply chain readiness, including support for domestic production and import strategies

  • Public communication and outreach to strengthen consumer awareness and confidence

  • Capacity building through training, technical workshops, and expert consultations

  • Policy support, including research, recommendations, and alignment with national goals

With both organisations committed to advancing practical, science-based solutions, the partnership aims to contribute meaningfully to Vietnam’s low-carbon transition—through scalable, locally relevant approaches to bioethanol adoption.
