On 26 March 2025, the Global Centre for Green Fuels (GCGF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Vietnam Bio-Fuels Association (VBFA), establishing a new partnership to support the integration of ethanol-based fuels into Vietnam’s national energy mix.
The MOU was exchanged in Hanoi during a high-level event witnessed by Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong—underscoring the increasing attention on clean fuel solutions in the region.
The collaboration sets out a framework for supporting ethanol market development through technical cooperation, policy dialogue, and public engagement. Areas of joint work include:
Knowledge sharing on ethanol blending, storage, standards, and regulatory approaches
Supply chain readiness, including support for domestic production and import strategies
Public communication and outreach to strengthen consumer awareness and confidence
Capacity building through training, technical workshops, and expert consultations
Policy support, including research, recommendations, and alignment with national goals
With both organisations committed to advancing practical, science-based solutions, the partnership aims to contribute meaningfully to Vietnam’s low-carbon transition—through scalable, locally relevant approaches to bioethanol adoption.
